Yoga

Yoga in PE or the hall

  • Hall or gym
  • Mats provided
  • PE gear
Qi Gong

Qi Gong in the classroom

The alternative where yoga doesn't suit: standing movement and breathing in a normal class period. Good for exam stress, focus, and settling a lively group.

  • Any classroom
  • No floor work
  • Uniform is fine
Exam season

Calm for the exam hall

Short, practical breathing and calming techniques Junior and Leaving Cert students can use in the exam hall, without anyone noticing.

  • Any classroom
  • No floor work
  • 1–2 sessions
Transition Year

TY module

A 6–8 week block across Qi Gong, yoga and stress management. Students finish with a short routine of their own.

  • Classroom or hall
  • 6–8 weeks
Staff

Staff wellbeing

A session for teachers at a staff day or after school. Standing Qi Gong works in the staffroom.

  • Staffroom
  • No floor work
  • 45–60 min

When yoga's a harder sell

Qi Gong gets around the usual reasons for sitting out

Some classes take to yoga straight away. Where a group is self-conscious, there's no hall free, or there's no time to change, Qi Gong gives the same calm and focus in a way everyone can join in with.

"They're self-conscious"

Standing, in uniform

It's done standing, with nothing to change into, so no one feels on show in front of classmates. Everyone does the same simple movements at their own range.

"We've no hall free"

Done between the desks

Qi Gong fits in a normal classroom without moving anything. It works in a timetabled class period, or in ten minutes before a test.

"There's no time to change"

One class period, start to finish

No mats to hand out and no changing. The class walks in, takes part, and goes to the next lesson calmer.
